WILD HOT SPRINGS

The Best Wild Hot Springs of North America

Here's a partial list of some of my favorite wild hot springs from across this beautiful land. More coming, from Canada and Mexico too. Keep them clean! Pack out everything you packed in and a little more too. As the internet makes it so much easier to find these rare and sacred spots we all have to work harder to protect and preserve them.

ARIZONA:

VERDE HOT SPRINGS

CALIFORNIA

BUCKEYE HOT SPRING (140 ℉).

This one is huge and beautiful and secluded even though right off dirt road you can have it all to yourself. Ride in can be a little rough.

BIG BEND HOT SPRINGS (180 ℉).

This is one of my all time faves. Short Hike in is all downhill,  right on a river, super hot pool and more mellow one beneath. Nice stone pools well made. this is one of my favorite ones to soak in the super hot, dive in the icy river, air bathe after the icy river, then repeat until dawn. Go farther down the river and over a little hill for a beautiful private pool noone knows about.  I often see bears here, theyre super chill.

Here's a shot I took of the second hidden pool:

MIRACLE HOT SPRINGS
This one is perfect. Easy access, all year pools.

MIRACLE HOT SPRINGS รข€“ CALIFORNIA

DEEP CREEK HOT SPRING (108 ℉).

Another good one, the closest to LA worth seeing, but can be too crowded.
Worth the hike on weekdays and winter time only.

IDAHO:
Sooooo many In Idaho. But my fave is:

GOLDBUG HOT SPRING (113 ℉)

One of my alltime favorites. Stunning views. If you get here at the right time its all yours. This spring is basically a hot river pouring out of the mountain. Must see.

NEVADA:

Black Rock Desert
I'm not telling where... Follow your nose

NEW MEXICO:

SPENCE HOT SPRINGS (100 ℉)

A classic. When I lived in NM I'd hit these a couple times a month, in every season.
Non-sulpherous water, I drank it once for a week.

STAGECOACH HS
Nice, Right on the Rio Grande

OREGON:

COUGAR RESERVOIR HOT SPRINGS (111 ℉)

A magical location, though often crowded. Hike in at night for more solitude. Crawl into the source cave to become a babe in the arms of your mother again.

UMPQUA HOT SPRINGS (117 ℉).
Amazing, especially in the snow. If the river isnt too high check out the beautiful cave right on the river at the bottom of the cliff. But don’t disturb the growing rock formations, theyre fragile.

BAGBY HOT SPRINGS (136 ℉).

UTAH:

DIAMOND FORK HOT SPRINGS
A+, theres a hot waterfall here, its nice. easy hike in.

OGDEN HOT SPRINGs (135 ℉).

WASHINGTON:

OLYMPIC HOT SPRINGS (118 ℉).

GOLDMYER HOT SPRINGS:

Well there you go. I'll try to expand on this list as time goes by. These are some of my faves but there are so many more, depending where you are, hit me up and I’ll tell you others in the area. This all used to be shared by word of mouth/need to know (don’t you wish the Burn had stayed like that?)  but there’s lots of websites and apps now, and google is your friend.
